Phone Cam Vacation Pix and Walking Flix

Here are some pictures of Little Miss Eli from our recent vacation.

Very Serious.

Gotta do something to keep that hair out of the eyes...

To celebrate finally getting over our various sicknesses, we went out to dinner the other night some friends who were visiting. Afterwards, we walked around a bit. Pippa really is getting the hang of walking, and seemed to like walking on the grass. She also really liked to walk to the planters and sniff the flowers.

Here is a link to some grainy videos from the cell phone camera showing just how good she's getting at walking:

Words

An update on the list of words she regularly uses. I've been meaning to do this post for more than a week, but kept adding words to the list, so I just decided to do it and update again later. Remember that most of these words are usually just the first syllable, and most people other than us couldn't understand them, but she really does use them in context at the right moment, etc. These are in no real order.

Hi, dog, Mama, Papa/Dada, up, please, light, what's that, nose, cheese, more, shoes, "Go, go, go!" (this is a cheer for the Tour de France and now whenever she sees a bicycle she says it), teddy, boom, banana, bye bye, all done, night-night, Oscar, Cabar, milk, cheese, ball, down (as in get down), down (as in to the dogs for them to go down), duck, book, truck (her favorite word right now), no, eye, bird, pop (usually used for bubbles), pat-pat (what you do to dogs), car, shake, Kix (a cereal), Cheerios, cracker, Pippa, cat, pineapple, Annalise (a friend of hers), key, Auntie.

46 words. Crazy. She also makes animal sounds -- elephant, fish, snake, dog. I couldn't even begin to make a list of the words she now understands -- she can follow tons of directions (whether she chooses to is another story) and clearly understands at least 1/2-2/3 of what James and I say to her... if not more.

Climbing

So Pippa gave up on walking for several weeks and concentrated on other things (see the word post to get an idea), but tonight seems to be back on the walking train. For the past couple of days she's been really into climbing. Everything. Into chairs, onto the fireplace screen, up the outside of of the stairs, etc. It's made life quite exciting.

Here she is at Gymboree climbing up a ramp. She is a total monkey.

This is an odd perspective, but she actually climbed to the top of this slide and then slid down backwards -- her favorite game to play on slides now.

The girl loves bubbles and every time she sees the bubble maker come out she says "Pop, pop!" and smacks the ground really hard.

Wheee.

I think she was the only kid that didn't cry on this -- it's a huge teeter totter.

This is the first chair she learned to climb into. I wasn't quick enough w/ the camera to get her climbing into it (she's a fast little bugger). Apparently it's her reading chair -- she likes to push the blanket and pillow into a nest, grab a book and read to herself. Notice the book is upside down.

Oh yeah, she's got a rough life.

Pippa the baby sitter

The twins Iris and Trevor came over the other day with our friend Gillian to babysit Pippa.

I can't tell if this looks like Pippa is helping watch the twins,
or if she just got done knocking them over like bowling pins....

Pippa Simpson

So here is Pippa after being run through the Simpsons creator machine doohickey thingy... she looks a bit older, but it's not too bad. Maybe in a year or two.

Cartoon-Me

So here is one of the few posts that isn't about Pippa or Rowan.

Danny, over at the Stinehelfer Blog posted a link to a place where you can feed in a photo of yourself and get it to turn you into a character from the Simpsons.

Here's the result:

I think it did a pretty good job...

This made me remember a couple other cartoon versions of me that I had kicking around on my hard drive:

this is from a caricature artist in San Diego

and this one is from a clipart disk-- I thought it was so close to being me that I could have probably sued for identity theft....

This ends the interruption of your usual programming.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled "All Pippa and Rowan-- All the Time" content.

Pippa loves bananas

So Pippa loves bananas...

... but her mama doesn't really love bananas.
(listen for the faint commentary in the background noise from this vid...)

(these are all pretty grainy, cuz they're from the cell phone)
