One month old!

Well, Pippa turns one month old today. In some ways it feels much shorter than that, and in other ways much longer.

Because she's 4 weeks today, we took her to the docs to get weighed-- she is now a healthy 10 lbs 2.8 oz. That means that in the last 2 weeks she's gained almost 19 oz.-- feeding is going pretty good I guess.

Also, Emily's parents came in yesterday, and have headed down to Salisbury to close on their new house. They'll be back for a longer visit next week.

Here are a few photos from the last few weeks:

Deep in thought.

Birth-weight and then some...

So we just did a quick stop in at the pediatricians office for a weigh-in (they let you come in and use the scale without an appointment, whenever you want).

The milestone that newborns are supposed to hit is to regain the weight they lost and be back to their birth-weight by 2 weeks old. Well, Pippa turned two weeks old last night, and this morning weighed in at an even 9 pounds, 0 oz. So she's already 3 ounces over her birth-weight. Doing the math from our last appointment, she's gained 6 ounces since Monday. So when we thought she was feeding often and well, we must have been right.

More photos to come soon.

Pediatrician's Visit

Yesterday we had another doc's visit to check her weight -- they worry about it until newborns gain their birthweight back. As of yesterday afternoon she is 8 lb 10 oz, 3 oz up from 3 days ago, and 3 oz away from her birthweight. They look for a 20-30 gram gain per day, and she's averaging 33 grams per day. Go Pippa! We'll go back on Friday for a weigh-in to see if we're there yet. Once she hits the birthweight, we don't have to keep waking her up for feedings, or track them. Yippee.

What can we say, newborns don't do much else.

Home Again, Home Again, Lickety Split...

We are finally home!

We were discharged yesterday evening, and spent our first entire night at home with Pippa. We were even able to be home for when she turned exactly one week old. It was very nice to sleep in our own bed, without interruptions by nurses, doctors, cleaners etc.

We had a pediatrician appointment today, and she's grown a 1/4 inch and is gaining back some of the weight she lost right after being born. So all in all, we're doing really well.

Once we catch back up on some sleep and have a few moments we will post some more photos.

(note: the title of this posting was requested by Emily-- she thinks it's the end of some Mother Goose Rhyme. If only we knew a librarian or two who could track it down for us...)
